Amit Chakraborty, born and brought up in a purely musical family, a student of Ramakrishna Mission(Rahara), is a well known and internationally quite an accomplished Indian classical vocalist. Amit Chakraborty set his foot in the esoteric realm of Indian classical music when he was merely a child. His father and grandfather had a deep knowledge about Indian raga music. He started his musical training at a renowned music school near his home town Barrackpore. He then was placed under the tutelage of many stalwart musicians and connoisseurs. Finally he went through the rigorous training in Patiala Gharana (A tradition or a School), a gorgeous tradition of Indian Music. He was awarded prestigious "Sangeet Bhusan" by Chandigarh University (Pracheen Kala Kendra,Chandigarh) at really a tender age for his musical genius and immaculate presentation of Classical vocal music. His immense proficiency both in creating melodies and maintaing proper esthetics of Tala and laya is highly thought of by the listeners. His uniqueness of singing which is hugely impacted both by the traditional vocal music and some striking features of Indian instruments easily captivates the audience.
